I'M MARK GLOVER.
AS SOMEONE WHO HAS BENEFITED FROM THE SERVICE THAT I NOW PROVIDE,
I know that Relationship Counseling is hard work that involves courage as well as commitment. I have also observed how it can be a powerful impetus for hope and a tool to precipitate change, even in the middle of very challenging circumstances. In the context of working with couples, my goal is to help partners to connect more deeply to themselves and to each other through communication and caring.
MY TWENTY-FIVE YEAR CAREER IN THE CORPORATE WORLD
allows me to help clients prevent relationship issues from negatively impacting workplace performance. I can also help clients form awareness-based coping and leadership strategies for the workplace that merge well with their relationships at home. Having fulfilled a variety of roles over the years--from cold caller to regional sales manager--I understand how the daily pressures of the workplace can contribute to damaging the very relationships that we work to support.
I UNDERSTAND FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
that we sometimes need to take affirmative steps to stabilize those relationships, to keep a difficult situation from getting worse, even to turn things around before it’s too late. I know--again, because I have been there myself--that the objective, but non-judgmental, environment created by a skilled counselor can make a tremendous difference. After hitting a rough patch in my second marriage, my wife and I sought counseling to address stubborn relationship issues. It was such a transformative, positive experience—in fact, it saved our marriage—that I decided to make relationship counseling my profession and my passion.
AUTHENTICITY IS A CORNERSTONE OF MY APPROACH.
Both personally and professionally, I know first-hand that lives characterized by authenticity result in greater individual growth and more meaningful connections. In the spirit of my own commitment to authenticity, I’ll freely share with you that I too have “been there.” I have known hard times, including a divorce, downsizing, challenges with children, co-parenting, and complex family issues. Experience has taught me that we find self-awareness and relationship truth when we learn to integrate our childlike, instinctive ways of responding to stress with what we know and value as adults.
WHILE I OFFER A BROAD RANGE OF GENERAL COUNSELING, THE CORE OF MY PRACTICE
is working with couples, families and individuals--stressed and unsure about what to do with their relationship--as they learn how to balance emotions, overcome communication barriers and relate to one another in more genuine ways. Issues that I frequently encounter and am specifically trained to address include anxiety, career stress, anger management, infidelity, grief and depression.
AS A MALE COUNSELOR,
I am able to support men experiencing a counseling environment for the first time, providing specialized encouragement as they seek to access and cope with their emotions in healthy ways. BOTH BY TEMPERAMENT AND TRAINING, I’m non-judgmental and compassionate. Although professionally objective, I am never detached.
